Send your little brothers and sisters. It’s free. They will perform their work that same evening and get to be part of a larger Artist Reception for a traveling exhibition on the Housing Crisis in L.A. (which Don Newton will participate in as well). No experience necessary. I’ll walk them through everything and show them how not to puke in front of the mic.

I’ll be featured @Dutton’s, Sun, June 25 (& I’m leaving soon!)

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

Friends,

If all goes as planned I’ll be leaving in August to teach at an
international school overseas, perhaps Thailand, perhaps Philippines,
perhaps Cairo…perhaps elsewhere…I’ll let you know on Sunday, June,
25, at 3pm
, when I see you!

I’ll be a Featured Poet at Dutton’s Bookstore that day, for the
Poetry Series, "Projectile Poetry," hosted by Theresa Antonia. There is
an open reading before the feature and I’d love it if you were able to
come and read some of your recent work (or old favorites). I’ll
actually be reading mostly new work, which I’m glad to report.

I’m actually very excited to read at Dutton’s, like, particularly
excited, here’s why: Dutton’s was the sight of my very very first
poetry reading EVER, when I was 19. I was part of an intro class at
UCLA,  the patio where the reading takes place really is lovely, I
remember almost puking with fear back then, and now I’m back as a
feature, hurrah! :)

Hope I see you soon..

Love and goodwill your way, *Cynthia
